Bill Curtis, local historian and writer will talk on Westerham’s Social History. Bill published his first work in 2012 called “Westerham, a social and commercial history 1865 – 1915 “ which is full of intriguing anecdotes, historical pictures and stories of a bygone age on life and the people of this rural community during the period. The book contains fascinating detail on building usage, the development of social activities via public houses, cinemas, town halls and community spaces as well as the impact of the railways, schooling, power, sanitation and the outbreak of WW1.
Bill is now working on a further book and gathering material much of which is via the recollections of people in the town.
The event is organised by the Westerham Society. Non-members will be very welcome! £5 on the door.
7.30pm for 8pm. Not to be missed.
